Abstract

The paper addressed contemporary challenges of school health education in Nigeria. It examined the concept of school health education, challenges facing school health education and corresponding solutions, government intervention strides in promoting health education, functions of school health education and statutory roles and responsibilities of school health personnel. The paper concluded that school health education, including health education, physical education and other curricular areas, is an organized school curriculum that helps to promote, protect and sustain health conditions of staff and students in academic environments. It recommended that government and relevant stakeholders provide adequate human and material resources for training and that integration of school management and community members be intensified for successful policy implementation.
