Socio-Economic Issues of Climate Change on Health Status of Secondary Schools Teachers in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State
Abstract
This survey research assessed the socio-economic relationship of climate change on health status of secondary school teachers in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State. The study sought to determine knowledge of climate change impact on health status, causes of climate change relationship on health status, socio-economic relationship of climate change on health status and preventive measures. Purposive random sampling selected 160 secondary school teachers from eight schools. Data were analysed using percentage and Chi-square at 0.05 level of significance. Results revealed that teachers had high knowledge of preventive measures and that climate change affects health status. A significant relationship was found in the socio-economic effect of climate change on teachers' health status. Recommendations included promoting sustainable agriculture, reducing fossil fuel burning and promoting health education in the community.
