Security Challenges and Mental Health of Students in Oyo East Local Government Area of Oyo State

Security is described as stability and continuity of livelihood, predictability of daily life, protection from crime and freedom from psychological harm, while insecurity is the opposite. This paper examined issues and causes of insecurity and how they influence mental health and students' general wellbeing in Oyo East Local Government Area of Oyo State. The paper discussed insecurity in Nigeria, its multifaceted manifestations such as bombing, kidnapping, property destruction and fear creation, and its implications for education, peace and wellbeing. Conclusions were drawn and recommendations made.
