Knowledge Attitude and Risk Perception as Predictors of Hepatitis B Risk Behaviour Among Undergraduates in the University of Ibadan
Abstract
The study investigated knowledge, attitude and risk perception as predictors of HBV risk behaviour among undergraduates in the University of Ibadan. Descriptive survey design was used with all accommodated undergraduates as the population. A questionnaire with reliability of .74 Cronbach alpha was used. The sample size was 439 respondents drawn through multi-stage sampling. Descriptive statistics and regression analysis were used at 0.05 alpha level. Results revealed a considerable level of HBV risk behaviour, low knowledge of HBV, positive attitude and low risk perception. Findings showed that all independent variables individually and collectively predicted HBV risk behaviour among respondents. Mass sensitization, awareness and intervention were recommended.
