Abstract

Electrical safety is a critical concern within educational institutions where daily exposure to electrical hazards impacts students, teachers and staff. This study used descriptive survey research design to investigate electrical safety management practices and their effects on accident prevention in public secondary schools in Lagos State. The population included school management and staff from secondary schools in the six educational districts of Lagos State. A sample of 184 respondents was selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using Electrical Safety Management Practices Questionnaire with reliability of 0.87 and analysed using descriptive statistics and Chi-square at 0.05 significance level. Findings rejected the null hypothesis, indicating statistically significant influence of variables under study. The study recommended addressing damaged appliances promptly, engaging certified electricians, thorough supervision and prioritizing safety education for staff and students.
