Contemporary Challenges of Occupational Health and Safety Among Factory Workers in Nigeria
Abstract
This study focused on contemporary challenges of occupational health and safety among factory workers in Nigeria. It aimed to determine challenges facing occupational health and safety among factory workers and ways of improving occupational health and safety. Occupational health and safety were defined as purposes that evaluate and control risks within the work environment. The study found challenges including inadequate skilled personnel, funding and logistics constraints, inadequate occupational health and safety regulations and policies, influence of people in power, and inadequate sanctions and prosecutions. It concluded that occupational health and safety evaluate and control risks, and recommended that all stakeholders play roles in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of workers at all times.
