Influence of Genetic Predispositions and Environmental Factors on the Emotional Wellbeing of Young Adults in University of Benin
Abstract
This study focused on understanding the nature-nurture controversy and the origin of the emotional wellbeing of young adults at the University of Benin. Four research questions guided the study. A descriptive survey research design was adopted. The population was 44,140 undergraduates in the 2021/2022 academic session, while the sample size was 150. A structured questionnaire designed by the researcher was used and data were analysed using simple percentage, frequency and mean. Findings revealed that genetic predisposition and environmental factors have an impact on the emotional wellbeing of young adults in the University of Benin. The study recommended comprehensive mental health education programmes and campus environments that promote physical and mental wellbeing.
