Health Promotion Through Adult Education: A Precursor for Sustainable Development in Nigeria

Abstract

This paper focuses on health promotion through adult education as a precursor to sustainable development in Nigeria. Health promotion is a comprehensive approach aimed at enabling individuals to increase control over and improve their health through informed choices, supportive environments and community engagement. The paper explored the influence of adult education on health literacy skills, mental health, disease prevention, poverty reduction and sustainable development. Recommendations included the need for health professionals to integrate adult education strategies into practice to better understand and leverage the connections between adult learning and health promotion for sustainable development in Nigeria.
