Abstract

This study investigated the effect of artificial intelligence integration on community-based health education programmes aimed at disease prevention in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. This study was carried out in an attempt to determine the effect of AI-integrated health education platforms on community health literacy regarding disease prevention, and the effect of the level of artificial intelligence integration in community-based health education programmes on community participation level in some Selected PHCs. The study made use of a descriptive survey research design and was carried out in five randomly selected PHCs within Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Data was collected using structured questionnaires and 294 respondents comprising of healthcare practitioners and patients were sampled using a stratified random sampling method. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation. The result obtained indicates a positive and significant relationship between AI integrated platforms and community health literacy (r= 0.76, p<0.05), as well as between level of AI integration and community participation level (r= 0.83, p<0.05). The study concluded that AI integration increases disease prevention health literacy and the rate of community participation in health education programs. It is therefore recommended that resources should be invested in establishing AI-based health education infrastructures and developing community focused AI integration strategies. The study is relevant in that it provides empirical evidence of the relationship between artificial intelligence integration and preventive health literacy as well as the community participation rate at primary healthcare level.
