COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATION IN NIGERIA: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS
CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS
Abstract
Improving health outcomes, especially in developing countries like Nigeria, is largely dependent on community health education. Community health education is vital, but it faces several obstacles in this nation, such as inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, barriers based on culture and religion, low literacy levels, inconsistent policy implementation and shortage of qualified staff. However, there are number of ways to improve its efficacy, including utilizing mobile health (mHealth) platforms, fortifying global partnerships, and enacting legislative changes that prioritize sustainability and community involvement. Using case studies and current research as a starting point, this essay examines the opportunities and difficulties facing community health education in Nigeria. It emphasizes the need for communities, healthcare providers, and the government to work together to close current gaps in health education and offers practical suggestions for doing so. Nigeria can greatly enhance the well-being of its varied population and public health results by tackling these issues.
