Health Promotion as Sustainable Tool for Community Security in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State

Abstract

This study examined health promotion as a sustainable tool for community security in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. Health promotion activities such as health clubs, gym visits, recreation parks and community water points can improve quality of life and community security by reducing social vices. The study adopted descriptive household survey research design with 200 residents aged 18–40 years selected through random sampling. Findings showed that 95% of respondents agreed that functional health promotion facilities and activities can promote individual health and reduce social vices that can lead to breakdown of law and order. Recommendations included making health promotion facilities part of community developmental projects.
