Abstract

This study examined awareness of the consequences of teenage pregnancy and early motherhood among teenage mothers in Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos State. Two research questions and two hypotheses were postulated. The descriptive survey research method was used with a self-developed Teenage Pregnancy and Early Motherhood Questionnaire. One hundred and fifty questionnaires were distributed and collected on the same spot. The instrument used a four-point Likert-type rating scale and test-retest reliability, with Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.86. Chi-square and multiple regression were used. The study found significant awareness of the consequences of teenage pregnancy and early motherhood and recommended broader programmes that support girls' health, education and employment opportunities.
